Sandy has served the Red Enchanter for the vast majority of what he can remember of his life. When the wizard who had summoned him had no use for the imp, he’d given Sandy to the Red Enchanter so that the Red Enchanter could take advantage of a magical creature bound to serve him. Especially one with Sandy’s abilities.

The magic sand Sandy makes is just a parlor trick compared to his real specialty. Although the sand helps. He can put people to sleep with his sand or send them into a frenzied panic, but it’s nothing compared to when he can get inside their heads. The one reason he’s so valuable to the Red Enchanter. Sandy can turn memories into magic, and the Red Enchanter uses a lot of magic.

As long as Sandy is bound to the Red Enchanter and can generate magic, he’ll never be free.

But at least he has Piper around so he’s not miserable alone. She is his only source of entertainment. Better make it last.
